SPEAKER_01:

Hey everybody, welcome to the Seller Club Podcast, episode 90. Yes, that is 9-0. Let's go ahead and drop that beat.

SPEAKER_00:

Episode 90.

SPEAKER_03:

Yup.

SPEAKER_00:

Are you kidding me?

SPEAKER_03:

I know. Ten away. Yeah. Ten away from the three-figure podcasts.

SPEAKER_01:

Three digits. One for each figure. Syndication.

SPEAKER_02:

Huh? Great. Alright, I don't I don't get it.

SPEAKER_01:

Syndication is like a like when a huge network buys you.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, because you have you have a hundred episodes in.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, so they can just keep replaying your old episodes throughout the years.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, that's what it is.

SPEAKER_02:

You collect royalties. I like it.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm just I'm seeing it as triple digits, so there's finally one for each of us, and me and Glenn can quit fighting over the second one finally. We can each have our own.

SPEAKER_03:

We have one digit each. Exactly. Y'all can get the zeros.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I was like, do you want the uh ones place or the tens place or the hundreds place? Let's just go back to like third grade math really quick.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. No, that is uh yeah, but big 9-0. Um and also, if you're hearing this, it is the week of eBay Open, baby.

SPEAKER_01:

It is. At the time this is airing, it is tomorrow, which is super duper exciting. Um, and really, we're gonna take the time on today's episode to help you to maximize your experience. Um, we really hope that every person in our little community here attends eBay Open one way or the other. And there are a few ways to do that. Obviously, like we've been saying for weeks, we are gonna be there live in person in Las Vegas. But even if you're not there live with us, um, that is okay. There are some other really valuable ways to participate and get something out of this that's gonna help your business. And we all know that from experience, like how helpful it actually can be. So um, but it really depends on what you put in, right? Like you get out what you put in in a situation like this in person or live streaming. So we're gonna talk about some of that stuff. Um, but yeah, this is eBay open week, and rest assured, we have big plans to collect a lot of content, talk to a lot of people on the mic while we're there. So we we hope to have some really fun stuff to bring back to you guys afterwards, too.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, before I ask Glenn the what's the most um or what he is he the most excited about eBay Open, I'd also like to point out that this is eBay's thirtieth birthday. So thirty years. The dinosaur of a platform, I'm just joking. That is very nice for a dinosaur. I have this. Tech giant baby is thirty years old. So we're celebrating it big time this time. So, Glenn, tell us a little bit more about uh what you're excited about most of this with this event. I mean, you're the veteran of eBay Open. I guess a veteran.

SPEAKER_01:

We've been going since 2018, so that was like your nicest way yet of calling him old. I know.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, I did join eBay in the year 2000, I might add.

SPEAKER_01:

So no better time. No better time.

SPEAKER_02:

Exactly, exactly.

SPEAKER_01:

I was busy seeing Backstreet Boys on the Millennium Tour, and you were like starting a business. So congratulations to you.

SPEAKER_02:

I was 14 years young.

SPEAKER_01:

Wow.

SPEAKER_02:

I was uh I was just learning how to walk. Learning how to walk. I think um, well, since we're talking about the eBay though, before I get into your question though, uh me and the wife were actually just talking about this the other day because my uncle and my cousin were the ones who showed me eBay during that time. Oh wow. And I had no clue what it was, and just kind of sharing it came from like the sports card side of things.

SPEAKER_01:

Interesting.

SPEAKER_02:

And so me and my cousin collected cards, and you know, they showed me eBay, like, hey, you can like buy and sell and you know, you send the money order to the seller, and then uh they ship you the the card in an envelope, and there was no tracking, there was nothing like that. It just kind of like, hey, it shows up when it shows up. And it was very, very important that you left feedback. Those were prominent. Other than that, that's uh kind of like the easy steps to eBay. But things would take uh several weeks to get something in, kind of.

SPEAKER_01:

And nobody was bothered by that. It was like I mean, I ordered this on the internet, like if it ever gets here, that'll be amazing, you know? It wasn't like where is this? It's been 12 hours.

SPEAKER_03:

Exactly. Did you ship it yet?

SPEAKER_01:

A lot has changed. No, that's true. A lot has changed.

SPEAKER_02:

And so I remember telling my parents I wanted to quit college to sell an eBay. Shit. And they told me no because I was over my I already done, I guess, like two years of basics. I was going into like my major.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Your gen eds were done.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, they're like No, that's not gonna happen. Like, just stick with school.

SPEAKER_01:

We already paid too much for this, and so in your parallel life with John, he did the opposite thing. He went to college for like, I think a year and a half and was doing gen eds, and then his band got signed and he dropped out. Oh because he's like, Yep, here we go. This is what I actually want to do. Yep, this is what I'm saying. And he never went back and finished school, just so everyone knows. He'll be so happy that I shared that on the podcast.

SPEAKER_03:

Wow. A dropout. Yeah. Yeah. To do what he wants to do. I like it.

SPEAKER_01:

But you know, self-taught musician and designer that totally runs circles around everyone. I mean, who cares if you finish college, you know? Yeah, yeah. And I'm saying that as a person who has finished college multiple times. So it's not everything. It's not everything.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, that is that is a cool I wonder why John. I'm gonna have a conversation with John. I'm I'm gonna ask ask him to include that in his introduction. Hi, I'm John, and um, you know, as he always does. I am Anos Plus One and I'm a dropout.

SPEAKER_00:

A college dropout.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I'm a college dropout.

SPEAKER_01:

Beauty school dropout. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

I like that.

SPEAKER_02:

So to answer Kenny's question though, to go back, uh, what am I looking forward to the most at eBay Open? Well, if you go to the eBay Open page, there's this little section right there that says speakers. There's one of them there.

SPEAKER_04:

Ooh.

SPEAKER_02:

eBay seller, fashionably legal. Oh Yinka that you have to meet. So if you see Yinka around, you say what's up to him.

SPEAKER_01:

Yinka is the bomb. Like, seriously, I'm serious, you guys. Episode 100, we're changing the podcast to the Yinka Fan Club podcast.

SPEAKER_03:

Um Well, well, and this is this is just Yinka just makes you smile.

SPEAKER_01:

He does.

SPEAKER_03:

Makes you smile and just has a really fresh and light takeout life, you know? And and you think he's just all nice and just, you know, then you play bocce ball against him and bring out the competitiveness in this guy, his laugh is insulting. That is so accurate.

unknown:

So accurate.

SPEAKER_03:

Anna can attest to this.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, I was the victim of it. Are you kidding?

SPEAKER_01:

But you know what? I love him so much. I can't wait to see him in Vegas. But also, I'm sure that nobody listening to his talk is gonna be competing with him like in that moment. So yeah, so he's gonna be super nice.

SPEAKER_02:

He's gonna be super nice.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. He's so fun.

SPEAKER_02:

Anna, what are you looking forward to? And this is your first like in-person.

SPEAKER_01:

It is what I'm looking forward to. That is probably, I mean, that's not like a specific agenda item, but that is what I'm looking the most forward to because I really got involved with the seller community like after COVID happened. So it I never have been to an in-person eBay open like this. And it seems like over the years of participating in eBay open, like filming content, and like last year Ken and I co-hosted the event, and it was so fun. Um, and there's been like these glimmers of like I can only imagine what it was like before this when it was a huge in-person event. So I'm just really excited to finally have that experience. And, you know, we have kind of a unique situation being in the expo hall and having a booth, which is gonna be amazing. We're gonna be like at our booth a lot, you know, and so hopefully a lot of people come by and talk to us and engage with all the fun stuff we have going on in our booth, which we'll talk about more later. But um, you know, it's gonna be a different uh conference type of experience from that standpoint too, because we're not just regular attendees, but we are sellers, and so we do, you know, it does behoove us to like t soak up everything we can and learn everything we can while we're there. Um so I'm just excited to see how all that's gonna play out. I think no matter what, it's gonna be a great experience, but it's not gonna be like anything like any eBay open I've been part of before. So I'm pumped about it.

SPEAKER_03:

Kenny, what are you looking forward to? I just like to see people's faces in person this time. I think that's the big thing. Do you like that part? I like that part. I like that part. Um and and and here's the thing. You know, like we've done virtual last three years. Um and we've been part of 18 and 9 2018 and 2019 in person. And you know, like virtual's fun, you know. I think virtual is really good to kind of like get the intro, right? Like then you get 'cause virtually you get to connect with a lot more people. You know, I uh I you know, we're Instagrammers, we're YouTubers, we're podcasters. A lot of the things is done virtually. Um but also it's like to take it to the next level, you know. Um to get to tell stories in person that is hard to do on chats and DMs and stuff like that. I think that's really big. Um and also to say I feel like it's just a celebration. I've always said this in multiple, you know, um interviews that eBay open is a celebration for what we have accomplished that year or through the years. Um I feel like it's a good break of kind of like looking at the bigger picture that sometimes we get too micro focused on our own problems and our own, you know, buyer return, buyer cases. Right. Just that. Our own gripes. Yeah, and at the end of the day, like you look back at it, it's like, man, like there's people that are doing this hobby, part-time, post um retirement, and there's people that have done it multi-generationally already, and to big corporations in different categories. So that's always kind of like a breath of fresh air for me to remind me that you know, like, hey yo, like your your stores micro compared to the grand scheme of things.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it's like put you in your place a little bit.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I I I like that. I like that, like you know, for the lack of better word, it humbles me. Um, you need that, Ken.

SPEAKER_01:

Huh? You need that.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

unknown:

I know, I know.

SPEAKER_03:

Glenn is Glenn, Glenn, laugh so hard, you know.

SPEAKER_01:

Feel free to come by our booth and humble Ken. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Show me your 90-day total. Remember that, Glenn?

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, yeah. Let me see her in Let me see her in the last 90 days.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I remember, yeah, we made a joke about it, you know, because you know, it's not, you know, it's not it's not imp It's not possible for an industry to not to lack gurus. And there's always gonna be gurus. And that's that's how you can.

SPEAKER_01:

Like it or not. Like it or not.

SPEAKER_03:

Like it or not, there's gonna be gurus that's gonna try to teach you how to make a million dollars while making AI listings and yeah, you know what I'm saying? While making less than a million bucks. I'm like, how are you gonna tell me where to go when you haven't been there yet? Um, but that was just you know a joke. But you know, I would say, you know, most is pretty cool, humble, and you know, really fun to be with.

SPEAKER_01:

So um Man, I should have put show us your 90-day total in the bingo card.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh I didn't spoiler alert.

SPEAKER_01:

If you're there in person, we're gonna be able to.

SPEAKER_03:

If you show me your 90-day total, you get a price. Yeah, I want to show you. That's it.

SPEAKER_01:

Just that easy. I'll show you mine. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, that's what I'm saying. It varies based on your 90 days, the price will vary.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, gotcha.

SPEAKER_03:

Anna, you get a snack.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm getting a sticker. Amazing. Um, sticker for you. We do, though, one of the things on the bingo card that I'm really excited about is you have to sing happy birthday to eBay. I hope we have people in our booth singing happy birthday all day.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, golly. It's gonna be awesome. Here's the musicality of Anna. We'll have John judge.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm not singing it. I mean, I may be the judge. It's not for me, it's for whoever has their bingo card.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. John will have the um the buzzer button.

SPEAKER_01:

I'll coach them on their singing if you want. I can give you a voice lesson really quick.

SPEAKER_02:

So I think before we talk about eBay open stuff, I know we're talking a little bit about it, but I did make a change to photos. Oh, an update. Wow. I feel like we need like Glenn makes a change.

SPEAKER_03:

This is a big deal. Let's listen to it.

SPEAKER_02:

Seeing Anna's photos in a white background. I know Kenny doesn't like the white background.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh my gosh, did I persuade you to change your background?

SPEAKER_02:

I think it's clean. I think we have to go white background on listings. With your hats. With hats.

SPEAKER_01:

They pop. They pop so well.

SPEAKER_03:

Or you blend too well. Or yeah, or that happens. What if your backdrop is the hustler hacks green?

SPEAKER_02:

I don't know. I feel like it might be too loud. I don't want the d I don't want the background to distract.

SPEAKER_01:

Okay, I have a weird question. You want it like Is it green or is it blue?

SPEAKER_03:

It's hustler hacks.

SPEAKER_01:

I know.

SPEAKER_03:

That's like a deal.

SPEAKER_01:

But is that green or blue? It's a little bull.

SPEAKER_03:

More green.

SPEAKER_01:

Okay. I feel like it looks more blue.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, it looks more green. Here's the thing that I noticed though, when I had the grey background. Like some colors weren't coming out right.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And I tried, like, I'm like, this is too much work now trying to maneuver all these things to get the right color. And then of course I've had some messages too where like, hey, I bought this hat. I thought it was more darker of a black and it's more of like an olive.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And I'm like, how is it that different on the photo?

SPEAKER_03:

You know why? You know why? Because the iPhone that we use compensates and auto-adjusts white balance. So one way of of doing that is if you want accurate or non-changing, you have to lock your setting and you have to go manual. Basically the pro on the on the on when you're taking. But that's that takes time. But on that note too, I hundred percent agree like you know, a clean white background would be it. That's the only reason why I haven't done a plain background. Because of the fact that if I go there, then your your our our iPhone, I think all of us take iPhone on taking photos, it hunts it hunts color and and and uh white balance. So it the great and to a point that you have to control brightness up and down. Um and w the only way to combat that is lighting, solid lighting that light doesn't change, and a DSLR camera that just is set for that light tone.

SPEAKER_01:

So the non-professional version of that, Glenn, is edit copying and pasting exposure adjustment edits within your photos on your iPhone. Because that's that's what I do. I mean, the white background and the lighting is always consistent, but yeah, sometimes from color to color, it's different. And usually just adjusting the exposure a little bit pretty much fixes it. At least good enough to where you know I can look at it and look at it in real life and be like, yeah, that looks really close. Yeah. So I mean, for me, that's a like as long as it's good enough, like serviceable condition kind of situation, or I would spend like 12 hours trying to get my photos perfect. So that's how I get to good enough.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I'm gonna try it with this white background. Let's see if this helps a little bit, because I guess the colors are just too weird on the grayish, but for jerseys it seemed like it was alright and didn't really have any issues there. But for hats, I don't know.

SPEAKER_03:

Well, cause cause the hats will show more of the backdrop, that's why. Right? Jersey, it covers a lot of it.

SPEAKER_01:

It takes up more of the frame. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Yeah. When you have more of the border or whatever you call it, the backdrop popping out, then our camera or our eyes looks at the more dominant color around it rather than just the subject. So either try to have your photo zoomed in a little bit way more. Yeah. I do like how you do your jersey though when you have like just a part of it in the whole screen. Do you is that how you still do it now?

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, I just get like that first kind of like zoom in crop.

SPEAKER_03:

For example, like the the number, right? The 13, like all zoom in. So so it's very unique to your listing when you're looking at at listings. It catches my eye.

SPEAKER_01:

That's a good point too, Ken, because you change your background every year, right? So you can look at a glance like of at where how old your listings are. Wow, why can't I put a sentence together all of a sudden? Yeah. So that's helpful to you, but you know, maybe there's another way, like what Glenn does with that. It's like, okay, well, this really makes his listing stand out. Maybe not among his own other listings if it's like a consistent thing that you do. And it probably is, because you're consistent about everything. Which is this is why this little announcement about changing your photos is such a big deal.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, or or you can you can have N of filleting a shoe one way or the other, and that's everything.

SPEAKER_01:

No, I'm gonna fillet that shoe. I'm just gonna like walk up to you in Vegas and just like roll my ankle so I can fillet the shoe I'm wearing.

SPEAKER_03:

Have you seen those people uh like like taking a photo of their foot, like going east to like those are like are you even human? Like yeah, like who can do this?

SPEAKER_00:

East to West.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. I mean that's like a ballet stance, like that is true, but like putting sneakers on it, it looks so weird. It does look weird.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Should have put that on the bingo card too. Man, I'm rethinking the entire bingo card now, and it's too late to change it.

SPEAKER_03:

We can redo it. We can do it virtually.

SPEAKER_02:

I don't know if it was I don't think it looks too stock photo-ish. Like Anna's photos don't look stocky to me.

SPEAKER_01:

Thank you.

SPEAKER_02:

Apparently someone did, right?

SPEAKER_01:

They sent you a I mean they might have had poor eyesight. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03:

You know, there's like it's more realness to it. The background's not removed. Because remember like Jeff before Soupies, he got like really crazy about the thing, and his photo looks so crispy.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh my gosh, is he coming?

SPEAKER_03:

To a point that it's not real, you know? No, I don't I haven't heard. Maybe he will. So, yeah, too crispy of a photo is not gonna help you. At that point, just crop somebody's stock photo.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay, let's see what these look like and then I'll I'll keep you guys posted on these photos.

SPEAKER_03:

We'll see. We'll judge your new photos. Okay, we can and we will. We'll judge it on eBay Open. So if you're listening, are you gonna be on eBay Open? Besides showing us your 90-day total, show us your crispiest listing photo. Oh crispiest.

SPEAKER_01:

Maybe we'll have to have a prize for the best one we see.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, the crispiest.

SPEAKER_01:

That would be super fun.

SPEAKER_03:

The crispiest eBay listing. I love it. Photo wise. And then somebody comes up to you and he has them uh on like a not a one-by-one ratio.

SPEAKER_01:

This is a pass-fail situation. You just smack their phone. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh man. Kenneth's gonna be like square. Breaking phones. Alright, so eBay open talk.

SPEAKER_01:

I know, let's get into it. So, I mean, we have already kind of, but but as far as the actual event, it is starting in T minus less than 24 hours from when you're hearing this on the day that we air. And like we've been saying to Vegas in-person tickets are sold out. They have been for a while, but there is also the live streaming registration option, which in some ways, depending on what's going on in your business, might be the best for you anyway. Even if you were like, oh man, I wanted to go to Vegas, like you get to stay home and run your business still, which is really good.

SPEAKER_03:

You'll be making more sales than us, those are you will, for sure.

SPEAKER_01:

So, you know, that's a grain of salt to take it with. But um, you know, either way, there's going to be tons of really good content. And so if you're not registered, I'm just going to point blank command you right now, go register. Even if you just go for one day, um, there's also, you know, usually like really cool stuff that comes with being registered. You can be entered for swag. Like they always have fun surprises, and I suspect there's going to be a lot of fun surprises this year because of the big anniversary birthday situation. So just go get registered, even if you can just go for one day. It's Tuesday through Thursday. Um, but even if you can just go for part of one day, like it will be worth it. So check that out. It's free to live stream um and be part of that online community. But also, either way, whether you're there in person or you're there virtually via the live stream, you can actually go into um for the live stream, it's the website or the registration site and build your agenda. Like you can look through all the different talks and sessions that are happening and build your agenda to just tailor it for yourself, like your experience level, your interest um based on the topics or the speakers. Obviously, you have to go listen to Yanka. That's like you're contractually obligated by virtue of hearing this episode to go listen to Yanka because we love him and it'll be great. But also for the in-person experience, there's an entire app to download. And that in there, you can do the same thing. You can build your agenda, you can see like a map of the whole um conference area, like all the different parts of the actual venue and what's going on when. So if you're on the fence at all, go look at the schedule either way, whichever way applies to you, um, and like build the ideal schedule and then and then decide, right? And then go get registered. Um so Ken, you have been looking around in the app more than I have. So do you want to add anything to that? Like what's going on in there?

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I mean, the one of the biggest things that I like about the app is you get to um, you know, it's kind of like a LinkedIn profile kind of like vibe. Um, you get to put all your contact information if you want to network with other people. Um also um I I I do like, you know, I'd like to echo what Anna said about building your own agenda. Um I'm a person that could get easily scattered brain at the event. Easily distracted. Um you could add um you know where you need to be at a certain point. Um especially in person. Um the the in-person event, um, there's multiple of the same ones. So you could say like, okay, I'll skip this one, I'll do this tomorrow because I like this better today. Uh I I believe it is the same as virtual too, and um all of this is gonna be recorded anyway as well. So um it's I would highly recommend to kind of just like do all as much as you want and then go back later. Um because I truly believe there's kind of like different nuggets that you can catch uh with the same energy at that point because even with the same type of questions with the different questions that you're gonna see on the chat, it just kinda gives you a different um you know, it'll give you ideas. You know, if somebody's telling talking about the photos and giving suggestions or answers, it kind of gives you more ideas. So like, oh like wait, like Glenn said he likes white, but ninety peop ninety percent of the people here don't like white. You know what I'm saying? So I was like, Who do you guys believe? Glenn or the ninety percent of the people? Definitely you believe Glenn. You know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_01:

I like how it's around Glenn is the ten percent and like you are the 90%.

SPEAKER_00:

Actually me and Glenn are the same.

SPEAKER_03:

No, I know 'cause I well, 'cause if you if you really know, it is really hard to get white photos, white background. Um, you know. Or maybe not. Maybe I'm just a rookie and Anna just takes it so much better. So so yeah, so I th I think um download the app. Make sure you just register, just register. Like I've ask a lot. And here's the thing if you want to be successful, you gotta wanna learn from people beneath you and in your level and above you. That's one of the things. Most most people that don't succeed are the ones that don't want to learn from other people.

SPEAKER_01:

That's why it's called eBay open. You gotta be open to learning from everyone.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, just blow your mind.

SPEAKER_01:

It sure did. I've been holding on to that one for a few years.

SPEAKER_03:

And she's if you yeah, yeah, she she she wasn't asked to run a promotion or an ad on that one, and then now she's just like understanding. I wasn't.

SPEAKER_01:

My other hot take is it's open like eBay is opening, you know, the curtain for us to see what they're doing. Like it's transparency.

SPEAKER_03:

Or eBay open the person that bought from you about to open a return case.

SPEAKER_01:

Or the door of opportunity is opening to you. Wow, we're not opening return cases. Okay. Let's keep it positive. Let's keep it positive.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, open an item not as described.

SPEAKER_02:

There's three things I'm trying that I want to do there. Okay, three things. Okay, get your notes out really quickly and get to do it. Okay, option number number one, number one.

SPEAKER_01:

Wait, are these optional or like this is your to-do list must be a little bit different?

SPEAKER_02:

Must do number one. Okay, number one, for sure. I need to check back with some old similar faces, see how they're doing, what are they selling, and catch up. And of course, meet new sellers that I've never met before. You know, what are they selling in? What are what are their niche in? Are they uh I want to get more information on the YouTube site too. What are the things doing recon?

SPEAKER_03:

He's doing recon work. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

For sure.

SPEAKER_02:

Research work.

SPEAKER_01:

And relationship maintenance as well.

SPEAKER_02:

So I think that would be good. Get their feedback on stuff on stuff. Um for YouTube, for social media, what are the quick question?

SPEAKER_03:

Are you gonna be are you gonna be vlogging this? Um I don't think so. Dang. I'm so good at Glen's vlogs. That's I I love vlogging only on Glenn. If I do it, I look at the edit, I'm like, nah, it's too much work editing it. I said so much dumb stuff.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay, let me think about it though. Maybe maybe I'll change that. Maybe I'll change it.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, that wasn't one of your three things in any case. Okay. It wasn't.

SPEAKER_02:

It wasn't. Number two, number two. Uh number two, talking to somebody regarding eBay live. I really want to figure out what I could do for eBay Live. And I noticed eBay Live wasn't really one of the topics on here. But it's something they're working on. I think they have a panel.

SPEAKER_03:

I think they have a panel.

SPEAKER_02:

They have a panel? Okay. Because I've been looking at this all of these workshops. I don't see anything.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh, it's not a workshop. There's no uh there's no live workshop. Yeah, yeah. But there's a panel just talking about their but but speaking of eBay Live, somebody, somebody opened up their budget and wallet for the nationals. eBay nationals. Glenn Glenn, do you know who these people were that popped up in their live? No, I didn't see. Okay. Um, just to name a few. The Ante the Kumpo brothers. What? On eBay Live. On eBay Live, baby. Alright. One of the greatest point guards, an NBA champion, Chauncey Billups was on eBay Live. On eBay Live, baby. And this one shocked me. I was driving and JC said, babe, we should have been there. Like, I'm not a card seller, but babe, look who showed up. Bruh. Rob Gronkowski. Oh. Led the chant eBay Live. eBay Live.

SPEAKER_00:

Now is he gonna be at eBay Open?

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, what if it's gonna be at eBay Open?

SPEAKER_00:

Maybe he'll be in Vegas. Who knows? Who knows?

SPEAKER_03:

And and and guess who made it to the eBay Live? IG reel oh eBay IG reel that they covered. Your boy the OG Gary V. He was so hype. He was so hype. There's a there were like quizzing. It's like what is a kaboom? What is a something like that? And what is a parallel or something like that? Something like that. It was very card. And this guy nailed it. Nailed it to the T. It's like I'm in this, man. I'm in this team. Oh my god. Just like cutting everything like that. And he's like, he's like, what do you think about uh Austin? This is guaranteed. He said, I keep it real, man. That's why I've been messing with eBay all man. He was showing eBay so much love, baby. Yeah. So, so, so yeah, it's just fitting. It's just right for Hustler Hacks to be with eBay Live again.

SPEAKER_02:

I thought you were gonna say Gary Payton. I don't know why. You're going with NBA players. Gary's so slow.

SPEAKER_01:

Gary Peyton.

SPEAKER_03:

We will do a collab called eBay brings Gary B. Gary B.

SPEAKER_01:

I was gonna say V eBay, anyone?

SPEAKER_03:

Oh V France, there's V France.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, it's cards.

SPEAKER_03:

That's so funny.

SPEAKER_02:

So eBay Live, you're Kenny, you're saying there should be there should be some uh representatives.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, there is there's uh um I I saw it uh eBay Live. I I forgot the title. I forgot the title, but there's gonna be pan a panel for it. So I mean I don't know if I should bring a suitcase full of hats.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, what do I have to do here and be like, hey, I'm gonna get on this platform. Here's the one I'm currently on. Yeah, put me in. Get me off the bench. We're ready to go.

SPEAKER_01:

Get me off the bench.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

You bring a suitcase full of hats, and I'll bring two suitcases full of snacks for boots.

SPEAKER_02:

Snacks and hats.

SPEAKER_01:

We'll talk more about that in a minute, too. But what's your third thing?

SPEAKER_02:

Uh, my third thing was I mean, if you go to the speakers part, obviously our boy Kenny. His photo is on there.

SPEAKER_03:

My face is there. I don't know why, but it is there.

SPEAKER_02:

So I'm gonna figure out what is going on with that and how I can be a part of this situation.

SPEAKER_01:

So I guess I'm gonna be holding down the fort at the booth for whatever that is. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Hey, don't worry. Anna there. Anna's face is not there yet. It's not. Okay, okay. It's not. It's not. I know.

SPEAKER_01:

Honestly, it's it's kind of weird not being involved in any of the official content this year for the first time ever.

SPEAKER_03:

I would say we're not doing anything bigger than what we've done virtually in person this year. Okay.

SPEAKER_01:

Maybe at least that's the assessment from this side of the experience.

SPEAKER_03:

But we're doing other things too. And right, remember? I think.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, we are.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

We're doing some stuff. Well, you'll see us.

SPEAKER_03:

You'll see us somehow somewhere. But uh Glenn, it is uh giving to you uh um responding to your answer. There is I saw it. It's in August 14th. It is on Golly, I just saw it. It is uh for eBay Live? Yes, I saw it. August 14th. Not seeing it here today.

SPEAKER_01:

Is it a session?

SPEAKER_03:

I think it's a session.

SPEAKER_01:

This is why you have to go in and look at the agenda, folks. I don't see the agenda.

SPEAKER_02:

I've been I've been studying the agenda. Oh, there we go. eBay Live Cellar Panel. Yes, 9 a.m.

SPEAKER_03:

to nine forty-five. So I think this is uh I guess a room, you know, like so how this is gonna work, there's gonna be multiple rooms going at the same time. So at 9 to 9.45, there's gonna be, you know, workshop. There's two work uh well, there's three workshops, and there's a seller advocacy feedback session, and there's eBay selling lives panel. And then your boy is gonna be doing something with eBay payments. So we're involved with the money.

SPEAKER_01:

Will payments let you have that?

SPEAKER_03:

I should wear that. They can't tell me no. Why not?

SPEAKER_00:

I'm pretty sure they can't. I'm pretty sure they can. They can't tell me no.

SPEAKER_03:

That's what I like to believe. It's gotta be like Okay, okay. So this is this is it. It my workshop is with fueling seller success, empowerment through financial solutions.

SPEAKER_01:

Hey yo.

SPEAKER_03:

You need money to make money, baby. You do. So that's your line. We'll help you with that. That's my line. Hi, I'm King Gaetana. You need to make money to you need money to make money.

SPEAKER_01:

And I need money to make money. The other day, I don't know if they will hear this, but we were with some friends and and they saw on eBay they're like in the in the trading card world is a dad and son, and they're so cute. And um, his son was saying, you know, I'm just trying to make money because I want money. That was his statement, his profound statement about money. And I'm like, same, same. I like that. I'm just trying to make money because I want money.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

It was, I think he's like, yeah, he's he's uh, you know, middle childhood, I'll just say that age-wise. So it was hilarious. But um, can you be loaning money?

SPEAKER_02:

Business, business loans with Kenny?

SPEAKER_03:

No, maybe. I'm the one getting on them loans.

SPEAKER_02:

Hey, you can talk about that.

SPEAKER_03:

I can talk about it.

SPEAKER_02:

If people have any questions regarding uh eBay capital and so make sure you go there.

SPEAKER_03:

If you want to grow your business, if you want to spend more than what you have in your pocket, listen to my story. I have done it multiple times. I've spent more money than I have.

SPEAKER_02:

And you've come out and it didn't crash and burn either.

SPEAKER_03:

And it didn't resist.

SPEAKER_01:

It was actually a really smart business move. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. You have to. Only if you want to work hard. If you don't want to work hard, you don't need to be getting extra capital.

SPEAKER_01:

That's true. Yeah, I mean, extra capital without a good plan for what to do with that extra capital, maybe not the most solid idea.

SPEAKER_03:

But because you know what they say. More money, more problems without a plan.

SPEAKER_01:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

So Kenny, do you have a top three that you're trying to do?

SPEAKER_03:

Top three, top three. Um I'm gonna sit down and have a meal with y'all. We haven't been in a building together in a long time. Right. We're definitely catching breakfast for real.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, we gotta have some breakfast. I don't even usually eat breakfast, but a day like that, all day at the conference, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh god, Lee, I remember me and Glenn one time. We had this gift card, man. We had this gift card, and we spent it in the most ridiculous expensive breakfast in Vegas. Really? We sat there, we enjoyed it, we didn't even look at the price tag, we just enjoyed. So we're gonna do that this time.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm down for that. Are you guys going to uh gamble at all?

SPEAKER_03:

No, we want to win. We wanna win.

SPEAKER_01:

We wanna win.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_03:

Imagine just something. We're eBay sellers and we're already gamblers. Is it gambling buying a product and assuming it's gonna sell?

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, technically it kind of is.

SPEAKER_01:

I don't think it's gambling. You could say it's speculation, depending on how much information you have. I mean, nobody can tell the future, but it dep the amount of risk in your speculation varies a lot, I think.

SPEAKER_03:

So Anna, let me tell you this. So is life.

SPEAKER_01:

So is life. Such is life. Such is life. It definitely is like that.

SPEAKER_03:

So so yeah, we're we're taking I'm gambling and putting my time aside and going to this eBay open knowing that I'm gonna come out a winner and winning way more than just free swag.

SPEAKER_01:

Although I'm pumped because it's probably gonna be awesome swag this year, too.

SPEAKER_03:

So so that's one. That's one. Um cell club meetup, homie meetup. Um the other ones is like I think way more friends that we have built over time are gonna be there. You know, Sneakers Envy's gonna be there, Yink is gonna be there, Glenn's gonna be there. Um I think a lot of first time friends that are gonna be meeting up in person, right? Like Glenn's uh Annas have never set Sneakers Envy, Yink has never met them, so like I feel like all my good friends are finally gonna meet each other in person. And I like that. I'm a I'm a bee, I'm a pollinator. So so all the good things I want to spread around to everybody else. So I think that's that. And then number three will be I really wanna get to talk and face whoever this eBay employees are, um heads, VPs, senior, director, all the titles, and be like, Look, what's y'all game plan? And just be like, just tell it to me straight. Is this happening or not?

SPEAKER_01:

Anything, any game plan you have at all.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. Is this happening or not? Because I just I'm at a point where I don't want to speculate and expect. You know, and then like for the longest time I was like, When's when's uh um best offer auto payments gonna come? But I got tired of that and now like I got tired of that doing it so much or lobbying for too much so much so long that when it happened, I wasn't really happy anymore. I was just like about time because the gratification was so delayed, yeah. Yeah, I want to be excited about a new feature and say, like, so if it's happening, just tell it to me if it's 99% gonna happen. Don't tell me anything less than 90% chance. Only 90% up.

SPEAKER_02:

So Kenny's going in there trying to find inside eBay deals that are not announced to the public. Yeah, yeah. And he gets first dibs to know.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, and also 100% we'll make your live selling meeting happen. That's that's top of the list. Okay. And that's part of my my number three. I have a lot of lists of uh having other meet and uh Anna I'm gonna be plugging in her with payments to um that was you know just in-person meeting with people. It's like, hey, yo, like this are the people that I rock with, and these are the people that you need to rock with. If you ain't rocking with me, you ain't rocking with them. But you rock with me, you rock with them.

SPEAKER_01:

That's how that works.

SPEAKER_03:

You know, that's how it works, you know. We sell our club podcasts, so um, so that's that's me. What about you, Anna?

SPEAKER_01:

Man, I think it's hard to do it. Saving the best for laughs. It's hard to do that.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, Anna has like a booklet for this thing. She's she's actually writing a book at the same time attending EBIM.

SPEAKER_01:

Right. No, I do want to write a follow-up to my first book, but I haven't started it yet. So I think, yeah, I think I might start it by the end of the year. But as for eBay Open, definitely just first and foremost, really looking forward to just being with everyone in person. Like that's been such a fun thing about um even the last few years of like flying to San Jose and filming stuff for eBay Open because fellow eBay sellers and eBay employees have just become my good friends and I get to see them once a year pretty much. So it's super fun to actually see everybody in person and just like yuck it up. It's just the best. So I'm excited just for all those little connections, even even the people that I don't know yet. Like I I was just telling Glenn uh a little while ago, it's gonna be so wild for people to walk up to our booth and be like, hey, I listen to you guys every week and you don't know me. You know, like that just concept is crazy to me. Even though based on our downloads, I know that must be the case, right? Like there's a bunch of people listening that we don't personally know. Um, but we probably feel like they're coworkers to them and like I would love to know them. So I think that's gonna be really fun. So I don't know, just general, like, you know, relational connection kind of stuff. I'm really excited about. Um, I'm also really excited about whatever fun birthday celebration stuff eBay's gonna do because I just I know that I I guess I have a lot of faith in like the team who's like throwing this whole event, and I feel like they're gonna have some really fun surprises up their sleeves. That's gonna just be delightful, and I I truly like don't know what they are. I just think it's gonna be fun and unexpected, and I that's like my favorite. So that's gonna be fun. This is a little sidebar. I wouldn't officially make this an a list item, but last year, I guess it was, when we were were at um Cellar Week where we filmed for eBay Open, Liz O'Kane and I Hi Liz, I love you, can't wait to see you. Liz O'Kane and I took this really funny picture with Jamie Iononi where we were holding these little poker chips, like the three of us were like holding poker chips together, and it was a really funny picture because we we had this kind of like you know, Vegasy casino night themed like dinner and games and stuff. And I was just telling Liz like we have to recreate this photo in real life, like in Vegas with the real poker chips and like chips? Yeah, and like and Jamie's gonna be there, so maybe there will be a way for us to recreate that photo. But that's on my like really silly bucket list of things. It'd be so fun to be able to do that and have like two years in a row of that same thing. But um, what is my third thing gonna be? I mean, honestly, I think this is my third thing. Going through so many changes the last couple years in my business from moving everything twice to downsizing to you know flushing in a bunch of retail arbitrage inventory and just changing things about the way I run my business, which this is why I want to write a follow-up book, because so much has changed. And I I don't want to just say changed, but really like developed, right? Like so much has evolved. And um, so I think there are some things that I am gonna really like learn at this event that are going to unlock some stuff for me and my business, and I'm excited for that. I don't even really know what areas that might be in, but I'm kind of open to all of it. And also if there's a way for me to, you know, re-watch things later, I probably will because we're gonna be like 90 miles an hour at our booth most of the time, probably. But I know that even just in conversations with other people or catching a session here and there, like there's definitely gonna be some like game changers. Um, there always are, like there always are, even in the years past being involved in the content. I also then, you know, all that stuff was filmed in advance. So then when I would go watch eBay open content from my own office or whatever when it was time for eBay open, I was taking all these notes, I was learning all this stuff, and I know it's gonna be the same this year in terms of like a lot of valuable things to learn. Um, so I guess those are my three. They're kind of vague, but I'm just really super excited about eBay. I am, I'm just open, like I said. Um, but last year, Ken, do you probably remember this? We were we filmed a little reel to promote eBay open, and there were five like one-liners in this reel where we talked about how you get ready for eBay open. So I want to quiz you guys a little bit about these. Um, and this can be like a quick round, it doesn't have to be like, you know, super long answers or anything, but our five things from that reel were fuel up, turn on your brain, boost your seller spirit, find a friend, and level up. So, this eBay open, how do you recommend for people to fuel up? What does that mean?

SPEAKER_03:

Coffee.

SPEAKER_01:

100%. Uh breakfast, which we already talked about, uh, snacks, which we already talked about, and yes, we will have lots of snacks in our booth to share with you if you're there in person. So come grab a snack from and with us if you want.

SPEAKER_03:

What's your drink of choice, Glenn? What's fuel up for you?

SPEAKER_02:

No, we you definitely need coffee. There's uh, and one of the things like once you get closer to like day three, you might be a little worn out. I was for sure. I was done when it was like day three, and not just because of the conference, because uh everybody else wanted to hang out for a long time.

SPEAKER_01:

Because of your social capital.

SPEAKER_03:

I was like That is how it goes. Yeah, I I don't know. I need to find a photo of Glenn literally just sitting on the floor with his head down like I don't want to talk to anybody anymore. And he's like, yo, give me take a nap. So we actually went went back, disappeared, took a nap before the the party at night, right? Like the the culmination party when it was done.

SPEAKER_01:

For me personally, I'm also fueling up with like immunity boosting like supplements and stuff, because last time I was in Vegas I got COVID and I really don't want to do that.

SPEAKER_03:

Right? Fist.

SPEAKER_01:

We need to have that in our booth too. Oh, I need to remember to bring that. But you know, yeah, it's it's like you have to take care of yourself. Also, you're in the desert in the summer, like stay hydrated.

SPEAKER_03:

I'm not going out.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, staying inside.

SPEAKER_03:

If it doesn't have an AC, I don't have to be along.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. So um, one little like aspect of this that I think will really especially apply to people who are doing the virtual um live stream side of it is to set aside time. Like you think about okay, having the resources that you need, like snacks and drinks, but also time is a huge resource that you have control over. And like, even if, like I was saying earlier, even if you can only attend for like one day or like part of a day, like set that time aside and block it off and put your phone on, do not disturb, and like lock in and make it count because there is so much to gain, and nobody else is gonna set that resource aside for you. If anything, you know, it's gonna be people are gonna be snatching at it all the time. Distractions are always gonna come around, right? So block some time off for yourself and minimize distractions as much as you can. And that will be like your fuel. That time, right, is your fuel to like actually take in some stuff and learn it and be able to apply it later.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah. I think I think we pretty much, you know, hit a lot of points there. Um, if you guys don't feel it yet, we w we really want you to join eBay open. And this is just us wanting the community that we have been a part of to be involved. I think the last line there that we all said uh during that um video that we were making is level up. Yeah. Uh so I think there's uh uh really good timing to be around people that are intentionally trying to learn and trying to level up. It's just the energy around the place is gonna be good online and in person. So make sure uh you follow eBay for sellers, the sponsor for this podcast. Uh make sure you keep up to date because you might see our faces pop up there. You might. You might, you know. Uh and and um make sure you follow Seller Ledger as well, uh co-sponsor of um eBay Open as well, and a sponsor of this podcast. And if you're in person, come see us because we have a deal for you that you don't want to miss. If you don't have Seller Ledger yet, if you haven't signed up for Seller Ledger yet, we have a deal that's never been given to anybody else that's gonna be exclusive, and it's gotta be done in person or maybe through our DMs. We got you. So we will see you in the next episode. Peace. See ya.

unknown:

Bye.
